Health and Wellness Gift Guide

November 19, 2017

It’s that time of year again! Pumpkin spice lattes are in full swing and it’s finally time to break out the rainboots. I’m not the biggest fall or winter fan (what can I say, I grew up in Paradise!) but I do appreciate all the delicious seasonal foods and drinks. I also appreciate the holiday spirit of giving and being with family and friends!

I didn’t do a holiday health and wellness gift guide last year but I wanted to revive the guide so that you had some fun gift ideas for your health and wellness minded friend or family member. Take a look at my top picks for this year’s health and wellness gift guide. Continue Reading…

Gift Guide: Valentine’s Day

February 10, 2017

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and I could not resist doing a fun little gift guide for it! The following are a little collection of what I think will make amazing gifts for Valentine’s Day. Most of the following are products/services I have already tried in the past and which I think you will love. The beauty about this Valentine’s Day gift guide is that you can sneakily share it on your social media (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and etc) in the hopes that your beloved other half will get the hint and buy you one of these πŸ˜‰

Or, you could be like me and be straight up about it. “Hey, so I would like you to get me (x product/service). Thank you, love you!” haha.

1. Tru Melange Aromatherapy Candle
I recently bought the ‘litsea & lemongrass’ candle and I love it so much. It gives off such a gorgeous smell and is very calming.

2. ClassPass Giftcard
I have tried ClassPass before and think it is a fantastic way to try out new workout classes around your city. They operate in a huge amount of cities, so I am sure your city is probably included!

3. Inspiralized Cookbook
Inspiralized is an incredible food blogger who specializes in ‘spiralized’ vegetable dishes. I have made a few of her recipes and cannot wait to try the recipes in her cookbook!

4. Paderno Vegetable Spiralizer
Has enabled me to eat mass amounts of zucchini in the form of spaghetti. Need I say more? Incredible little invention.

5. Scattered Crystals Ring – Pink Peonies Collection
Pink Peonies (a Salt Lake City based fashion blogger) recently launched a line of jewelry and I absolutely love this elegant piece.

 6. Four-hand Massage
I have never had a four-hand massage at the Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco before (I would LOVE to), but I have had one in Thailand before at Oasis Spa, Phuket. It was an incredible experience and even better because I had a couple’s four-hand massage with my honey. If you want to splurge on a gift, this is it.

What do you all think of my picks? The pancakes are truly so easy to make and extremely tasty and delicious. Think I might surprise my honey with some of them in bed …

In regards to the gift guide, I would be happy with any of these (although I already have the spiralizer and pre-ordered Inspiralized’s cookbook lol) but I would die if I were gifted the four-hand massage. They are truly a wonderful and relaxing experience.

What are your plans for Valentine’s Day?

Gift Guide: Lavender Salt

December 22, 2014

The holiday season has become entwined with the act of giving and receiving gifts and always gives me slight anxiety. I absolutely love giving gifts to my loved ones; the problem comes in choosing a gift that is both suitable and wallet friendly. Once I get out of graduate school and get a real job, my ability to buy more expensive gifts will increase exponentially but for now, let’s just say that the wallet of a graduate student is not particularly healthy! As such, I wanted to show you this cheap and easy gift; lavender salt!

Where did the inspiration come from?

The lovely Sarah from Snixy Kitchen inspired me with this idea when she talked about how a friend of hers had made rosemary, vanilla and lemon salt as a homemade gift before. So cool right?! I decided to try my hand at making a lavender salt because a) I had some lavender in my cupboard and b) It has such a beautiful smell and taste. Plus the beautiful color of lavender will make the salt look so pretty! For the most part, receiving a homemade gift just seems as if it is so much more meaningful than a store bought one. I love getting ANY gifts (I don’t expect anything), but there is something to be said about knowing that someone has put in the time and effort to create something that will be uniquely yours as opposed to seeing someone else wearing the same exact gift you were given.

Lavender Salt

Homemade Lavender Himalayan Pink Salt

A wonderful and flavorful lavender Himalayan pink salt.

  1. 1/2 cup Himalayan pink salt
  2. 1 tsp dried lavender
  1. Simply mix together the (ground) Himalayan pink salt and the dried lavender.
  1. I used just under 1/2 cup of Himalayan pink salt, so less salt works too.

I used Himalayan Pink salt as my salt, but you can also use sea salt. I am biased towards Himalayan pink salt as I think it is a gorgeous color and it has been said to contain a bunch of minerals that are not normally found in your typical table salt.

Use this lavender salt on

Chocolate (like a chocolate cake or pudding), any Protein (lamb, steak, fish), and Holiday Cocktails!

One of my friends is crazy about lavender … so I know who I’ll be giving this gift to πŸ™‚

Do you normally make homemade gifts? What is the best gift you’ve ever received?

P.S. If you want to print out the same label I used, then right-click on the image below and save it. Then either print it out and just stick it onto your lavender salt container (like I did), or buy some sticky sheet labels from this website and print them onto that πŸ™‚
