No matter what the weather, there is nothing more refreshing than a lemonade. Particularly, a matcha lemonade! If you haven’t tried a matcha lemonade, then you are in for a treat.
And the best thing about this drink? Matcha lemonade is super easy to make and healthy too.
What is MatchA?
Match is a type of green tea made by taking the young leaves of the green tea plant (Camellia Sinesis) which is then ground with stone to produce a fine green powder.
Green tea has a ton of benefits and because you are consuming the whole, ground leaf (versus just steeping the tea leaf in water), you’re getting all of the possible health benefits. In addition to being an objectively healthy drink, I also really enjoy its taste.
I’ve written extensively about green tea in the past and its various health benefits. To summarize:
- Green tea contains a naturally occurring antioxidant which can help regulate blood glucose levels.
- Can help increase energy levels and fat oxidation (fancy word for burns fat).
- Potentially delay, or decrease, certain types of disease (not enough research has been done to conclusively prove this yet).
How to Keep Matcha Lemonade Low Sugar
Now, combining matcha with lemonade seems like a no-brainer, taste-wise. However, most lemonades you buy in stores are packed full of sugar. And they absolutely taste delicious and are fine when enjoyed in moderation. However, I really wanted to provide you all with a matcha lemonade that was delicious yet low in sugar.
How did I do that? I used Swoon’s lemonade! Specifically, their pink lemonade, although their classic lemonade or half and half lemonade work fine as well. Swoon’s lemonades contain zero sugar because they use monk fruit, a natural sweetener which contains zero calories or carbs.
